How MWO Found His Voice
Michael Wayne O’Neill is pursuing an Bachelor's Degree in Communications at Wingate University. He plans to graduate in December 2023 and pursue his dream of being a play-by-play sports announcer. Michael also works at The Enquirer-Journal in Monroe, North Carolina as a correspondent. He has 200+ articles for the company, and his dedication to reporting the truth paves a promising future for him.
When he was eight years old, Michael found his voice after experiencing delays in speech and communication. Over time, people started taking notice of that voice, and they would complement him for it. Michael took an interest in broadcasting his freshman year of high school when he listened to legendary sports commentator, Al Michaels, call a football game. His first experience behind the mic was when he started announcing middle school football games as a high school junior. At that moment, he realized that his voice was his calling, and he stuck himself to it.
Michael is a humble and flexible human being with a passion for sports and people. What drives him to study broadcasting is how he listens to many sports commentators on television. His dream is to call sports events ranging from local to national television networks. He believes that with spiritual guidance, he can accomplish anything. When he is not in school or behind the mic, he goes to church and spends time with his family.
